My son-in-laws mother, a Catholic, informed me that we heathens didn't believe in the Trinity!! Neither was true of course and we all had a lot to learn. I am so glad my daughter is a Catholic--she and her husband have a wonderful marriage and five very polite, centered and confident children and I think their strong religious affiliation has helped.Judyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03399435237919718544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6580898742645753422.post-21522942165664842212009-11-04T13:51:49.851-05:002009-11-04T13:51:49.851-05:00Boo, my Dragon was quite the character. he danced...Boo, my Dragon was quite the character. he danced at Tribal meetings. someday i'll write of it. his heritage is something he's proud of and yet didn't let many in on. and Father was a great old soul. i really wish i had him to talk to through this journey without my Dragon.

Supa, i'll have to look up Mary Karr. thanks for the tip. always so good to see your name on a comment. love to you.

Debbie, i know a lot of widows who are angry at God. i'm not there yet. behind the curve? i know how much pain my Dragon was in and i can't question the wisdom of him being free from it in such a place as i believe Heaven to be. i am scared out of my mind though about what will happen to me after i die. i want so badly to know that when i close my eyes for the last time, my Dragon's face is the first thing i'll see but ......... i talk to God all the time asking to be allowed the honor of being with Him and my Dragon.
as for the colors, take your time. i'm quilting the big quilt for the next week +. shooting for a before Thanksgiving end to this one. no rush on your part. embroidery work is not the first thing i do. =o)abandonedsoulshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06020499806998154330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6580898742645753422.post-89387090103118123292009-11-04T12:43:17.964-05:002009-11-04T12:43:17.964-05:00I loved your post and completely agree that a pers...I loved your post and completely agree that a person's character is not tied to their religion. Every religion and cultural group has bad and good people. I would have loved to have met your priest. I agree with Boo that he and your Dragon are together, watching over you and talking about you! Some of my oldest and closest friends are Catholic, and now one of my new friends! I hope that your faith brings you some comfort. I'm still a little angry at God and I'm having a hard time really coming back to my faith, though I know in my heart that God didn't take my husband from me and cried with me when he died. But I still want to know why he couldn't save him when we need him so much here. I'm sure many of us ask the same question.

I will get to choosing colours with the kids later this week, once report cards are done. Is that ok? I've just taken a break from marking to read your post and I have to get back to work now. :(Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13743446066024389563noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6580898742645753422.post-8877292831292608092009-11-04T11:11:25.100-05:002009-11-04T11:11:25.100-05:00I love this priest too!
Gavin was raised Catholic,...I love this priest too!
Gavin was raised Catholic, was not faithful but thought they gave a great education including the training to critically examine faith and learn about other world religions and other Christian traditions. He considered himself a Gnostic Buddhist but we worshipped with the Unitarians.
What a beautiful story.
I just heard Terry Gross interview the writer Mary Karr, she converted to Catholicism, too. I think you too might get along -- similar wicked senses of humor.
Love,
SupaSupa Dupa Freshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07659738264922395349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6580898742645753422.post-7618804394748437522009-11-04T11:10:29.892-05:002009-11-04T11:10:29.892-05:00I loved reading about the Priest - he sounds wonde...I loved reading about the Priest - he sounds wonderful. Made me laugh when you wrote what he said to your Dad :-) You are so right, there are good and bad people in every walk of life. It is only ignorance or brain-washing that causes people to think otherwise and I find that so sad, also offensive.

I didn't know the Dragon was half Sioux/Russian - what a great mix! No wonder he was so good at his job. Fearless. I have so much respect for Native Americans and their culture and beliefs - maybe that's why he was magical.

I reckon the Priest will be telling the Dragon to be patient and wait quietly ... that you will be alright. That he taught you well.

xxxBoohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10695496303699631884noreply@blogger.com
